We are so excited to announce our 2026 Summer Sunshine Baskets for young parents with cancer, filled with comfort and self care items, and small activities that families can do together to inspire connection.
This year's 50 Summer Sunshine Baskets are anchored by Minky Couture's generous donation of 50 Monster Plush blankets, ensuring families have a cozy blanket to snuggle together during the quiet times of cancer treatment and recovery.
We would love to include gift cards for groceries or essentials in the Summer Sunshine Baskets, please contact us if you would like to participate or make a tax-deductible donation donation HERE and we will do the shopping for you.

Why did you create THE baskets? what is the purpose?
When a parent gets diagnosed with cancer, it changes the rhythm and routines of the family. Sometimes there is not a lot of extra energy or resources to spread around. We hope to provide a little comfort and connection to the families. These baskets allow us to reach more people, like families that are early in their cancer journey or in physically demanding treatment and the idea of a Nice*Day may seem overwhelming to them.
Finally, with these baskets we are building community, a community of volunteers and donors who also want to spread a little sunshine to families going through a tough time. It gives previous Nice*Day recipients a chance to pay it forward and creates meaningful full circle moments that we have been blessed to witness.

2025 Summer & BEYOND Sunshine Baskets
HANDF first created our Summer Sunshine Basket Outreach program in 2025, with all products donated by local donors. The biggest hit was our mascot, Mimi, a Warmies stuffed animal that can be placed in the microwave and provides both physical and emotional comfort.
